Lions Club of London Hendon Completes Steptember Challenge, Raising £30,800 for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice

From taking 90-mile journeys to making a lasting difference for seriously ill children and their families

The Lions Club of London Hendon has successfully completed its September fundraising challenge, raising an incredible £30,800 to date for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice as part of the hospice’s From That Moment campaign.

Throughout September, Lions Club of London Hendon members, joined by some of their family members, took on the Steptember challenge, committing to walk, run or cycle a minimum of 90 miles during the month.

What began as a personal fitness challenge quickly became something much bigger — a united effort to raise vital funds and awareness for children and families facing some of the most difficult circumstances imaginable.

Why Noah’s Ark?

The club chose to support Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice because of the vital support it provides to babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, as well as the families who care for them.

A seriously ill child can have a profound impact on an entire family. The emotional, practical and financial pressures can be overwhelming, often at a time when families are simply trying to make the most of every precious moment together.

For Lions Club of London Hendon, supporting Noah’s Ark was an opportunity to help ensure that families receive the specialist care, support and moments of respite they need — without having to worry about paying for those services.

It was this focus on supporting children and their families through extraordinarily difficult times that made Noah’s Ark such a meaningful charity for the club to support.

90 miles — and thousands of reasons to keep going

During September, Lions members and their families got active in whatever way they could, taking on the challenge through walking, running and cycling.

The 90-mile minimum gave everyone a personal target to work towards, but the real motivation came from knowing that every mile was helping to raise funds for an important local cause.

There were early starts, long walks, challenging rides and plenty of determination along the way. Most importantly, there was a shared sense of purpose: every step, mile and donation could help make a difference to a child and their family.

An incredible £30,800 raised

The response from the community has been truly overwhelming.

At the time of writing, £30,800 has been raised, a remarkable achievement for the Lions Club of London Hendon and everyone who took part or supported the challenge.

The fundraising formed part of Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice's From That Moment campaign, through which eligible donations are doubled, helping supporters' generosity go even further.

The club would like to express its heartfelt thanks to every person who donated, shared the fundraising campaign, encouraged our participants or simply helped spread the word.

Every donation has helped turn miles into meaningful support for children and families.

From a challenge to a cause that matters

Completing Steptember is something the Lions Club of London Hendon can be proud of, but the real achievement lies beyond the number of miles covered or the amount raised.

It is about helping Noah’s Ark continue to be there from that moment when a family learns that their child has a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, providing care, support and precious moments throughout their journey.

No family expects to face such a situation, and it can happen to anyone.

That is why the support of the community matters so much.

A huge thank you from Lions Club of London Hendon

To everyone who walked with us, donated, shared our posts, encouraged us and helped us reach this incredible milestone — thank you.

Together, we have shown what can happen when a community comes together behind a cause that matters.

£30,800 raised. 90 miles challenged. Countless steps taken. One very important cause.

And most importantly, our efforts will help Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice continue to be there for children and families when they need it most.

Today marks the official start of the Steptember Challenge, and our club members have hit the ground running — with three of our amazing participants already clocking in an incredible 30,000 steps on day one!

Every step we take throughout September supports Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, helping them provide vital palliative, clinical, and emotional care for babies, children, and young people with life-limiting conditions across our community.

Best of all, every single donation made right now will be DOUBLE matched — meaning:

  • £10 becomes £20
  • £25 becomes £50
  • £50 becomes £100

Double the donation means double the impact for these children and their families.

How you can get involved:

  • Sponsor our team: Make your donation go twice as far and help us hit our fundraising milestone.
  • Lace up your trainers: Join the team, track your steps, and walk alongside us this month.
